Community Service: Members’ Initiative

SEDP membership is not always about the credit and finance, it is also about advocacy.
For some, this is an opportunity to be mainstreamed in parishes. It is also an opening for other members to feel that they belong in a community, which thereby gave them inspiration to initiate activities showing their love for their locale.
Mainstreaming of members in church starts from attending to spiritual formations, bible orientation and to parish events, but aside from these, several centers conduct their weekly center meetings in chapels and parish compounds making them visible to the church.
In line with this, Brigada Parokya was initiated by the members wherein scheduled “clean and green” or “general cleaning “activity was being held inside and around the church vicinity.
Recent Brigada Parokya was held in San Lorenzo Ruiz Shrine, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish Magallanes, Sorsogon last July 11, 2018 with SEDP Irosin Branch staff and members.
Another community service initiated by the branches and members is “Soup Kitchen.” Members prepared meals for the students of their chosen elementary school. Latest soup kitchen was in San Vicente Elementary School with SEDP Libon Branch 1 staff and members this month of July 2018.
Such said community services and activities were completely initiated by the members with the help of their respected branches, a beautiful example of how they live-out the principle of solidarity- a principle which was inculcated during the earlier days of their membership.
