Soft-spoken and tough Entrepreneur

Before joining SEDP in 2006, Vilma Bernales, a soft-spoken woman, was determined to help her husband, who was then working as home service auto repairman and driver, by selling clothes and household items. Her journey began with hesitancy, but she bravely embraced SEDP's support.

Her initial loan kickstarted a fresh vegetable vending venture, later expanding to include items like peanut butter and coco jam. In 2017, they seized an opportunity to establish an auto repair shop despite concerns about accessibility. Over time, they diversified into aggregates and hollow block production, gradually expanding their services and acquiring adjacent lots.

With six children, all committed to education, Vilma emphasizes the importance of multiple income sources, crediting SEDP for their success. “Where else can we find someone who will trust us with such an amount of money, at low interest rates and weekly repayments? Only in SEDP.”

SEDP played a pivotal role, providing loans and training that fueled their entrepreneurial spirit. Vilma's involvement with SEDP strengthened her faith, instilled entrepreneurial skills, and cultivated compassion. Grateful for SEDP's trust and support, she emphasizes its unique role in fostering financial empowerment and spiritual growth. Presently, Vilma holds leadership roles in the community, reflecting the transformative impact of SEDP on her family's life.
